What to Bring to Your Graduation Session

Your graduation session is all about celebrating you and your accomplishments, so bringing a few personal items can make your photos truly special. Here’s a handy checklist to help you prepare:

  1. Graduation Essentials

  • Cap & Gown – the classic must-have! Iron/steam your gown to make sure your gown is wrinkle-free.

  • Stoles & Cords – show off your achievements and personal flair!

2. Outfit Options

  • Primary Outfit – 1 outfit is included in all packages, be sure to wear it upon arriving to your session.

  • Comfortable Shoes – You’ll be walking from location to location, bring a comfy pair of shoes to change into.

  • Alumni Shirt (Optional) – throw on an alumni shirt over your graduation outfit for some photos!

    • Sometimes bathrooms aren’t open/accessible for a full change, opt for an alumni shirt so you don’t need to do a full change!

3. Something to Pop!

  • Champagne (optional) – for the classic celebratory pop!

  • Biodegradable Confetti or Balloons (optional) – adds color and energy!

4. Personal Touches

  • Props that reflect you/your major – this could mean (but is not limited to):

    • Stethoscope (nursing, pre-med, health majors)

    • Musical instruments (music, performing arts majors)

    • Team gear or sports equipment (athletes, kinesiology, sports majors)

    • Teaching supplies (education majors)

    • Camera (photography, media, journalism majors)

    • Art supplies (paintbrushes, sketchbooks, design majors)

    • Lab coat (science, engineering, STEM majors)

    • Books or thesis papers (any academic major)

  • Pets – yes, furry friends are ALWAYS welcome! However, you must let me know ahead of time!

5. Essentials for Comfort & Prep

  • Hair & Makeup Touch-Up Items – comb, brush, hairpins, lip gloss, blotting paper, & anything you need to make you feel great during our session!

  • Water & Snacks – sessions can be active, so stay hydrated and energized.

  • Layers – be sure to check the weather before your session! Sometimes it can be chilly especially in the morning so bring jackets, sweaters, or blakets for chilly weather.

💡 Pro Tip: Pack everything in a bag the night before so you’re ready to go and don’t forget any key items. The more personal touches you bring, the more unique and memorable your photos will be!
